[Siren Classic ManLove: Erotic Alternative Paranormal Romance, M/M, shape-shifter, vampires/werewolves, HEA] This was his worst plan ever. Trent Sanchez was only going out for a coffee, just an afternoon break from all the responsibilities, and somehow he ended up a hundred miles away! It was a mistake, a foolish act. He'd had a fantasy plan, not a real one, but here he was on the run with Billy, a plucky human who had nifty little concoctions that saved them from Renegades. He wasn't sure anyone could forgive him or would understand. He had a job to do, one that saved thousands of lives. But when innocents died and he found he couldn't save everyone no matter how hard he tried, Tre faltered. Even his gift wasn't working properly anymore and his beloved bear, Tredd Croggen, who he'd fallen for the moment they met, was gruff and annoyed with him. His head hurt and his thoughts were jumbled. Tre was lost, but he was fighting to get back what they'd had.

Ivan Porenski is an Oligarch, one of the super-rich Russians who reside in London, and live a life of excess and luxury. He's also a player. Gorgeously handsome, immaculately groomed and sexily charming, women fall at his feet, they just never say no. Haunted by his less than savoury past, and the guilt of his parent's deaths, he keeps people at arm's length rather than face up to his own demons. Surrounded by security, and a brick wall around his heart, he runs his empire from sumptuous offices in the Canary Wharf Tower. When he meets Elle Reynolds, a young lawyer, he's immediately reminded of the only girl he ever loved, who he left to her fate when he fled Russia. The problem with Elle is that an even wealthier man, his banker, is also pursuing her. Competing with a cultured member of the British aristocracy is difficult for even the wealthiest of foreigners, let alone one carrying around dark secrets and a chequered history. Book 4 of the Corporate Series, Ivan reveals his side of events.

This book is the first green criminology text to focus specifically on Latin America. Green criminology has always adopted a broad horizon and explicitly emphasised that environmental crimes and harms affect countries and cultures around the world. The chapters collected here illuminate and describe the “theft of nature” and the “poisoning of the land” in Latin America through and from processes of agro-industry expansion, biopiracy, legal and illegal trafficking of free-born non-human animals, and mining. An interdisciplinary study, this collection draws on research from a wide range of international experts on not only green criminology, but also social justice, political ecology and sociology. An engaging and thought-provoking work, this book will be an essential text for anyone interested in current issues in environmental crime.

"One of the most entertaining short narratives of all time, the Achilleid is a stand-alone work of compelling contemporary interest that moves with great rapidity and clarity. Its compact narrative, which encompasses a brutish childhood, an overprotective mother, temporary gender bending, sexual violence, and a final coming to manhood with the promise of future military prowess, may be unparalleled in a single narrative of such brevity. The text has survived in hundreds of manuscripts, sometimes copied with Statius' much longer and lugubrious Thebaid, but just as often with other racy short narratives and dramas taught in the medieval schools. The poem's literary playfulness, visual imagery, and lighthearted treatment of mythological and historical data made it--and can still make it--a goldmine in the classroom. Until now, however, it has been virtually impossible to get a sense of the work if one did not know Latin--recent translations notwithstanding. Stanley Lombardo's translation of the Achilleid is a dream: it's sound, enthralling, and will fully engage readers with this enticing, perplexing, at times distressing, but ultimately rewarding work." --Marjorie Curry Woods, Blumberg Centennial Professor of English and University Distinguished Teaching Professor, The University of Texas at Austin

The Acharnians or Acharnians is the third play — and the earliest of the eleven surviving plays — by the Athenian playwright Aristophanes. It was produced in 425 BCE on behalf of the young dramatist by an associate, Callistratus, and it won first place at the Lenaia festival. The play is notable for its absurd humour, its imaginative appeal for an end to the Peloponnesian War and for the author's spirited response to condemnations of his previous play, The Babylonians, by politicians such as Cleon, who had reviled it as a slander against the Athenian polis. In The Acharnians, Aristophanes reveals his resolve not to yield to attempts at political intimidation. Along with the other surviving plays of Aristophanes, The Acharnians is one of the few - and oldest - surviving examples of a highly satirical genre of drama known as Old Comedy.

The Analects are a record of the deeds and wisdom of China's primary philosopher Confucius, who lived during the 5th century BC. Much like Socrates, whose wisdom was later recorded by Plato, Confucius' life and thoughts were studied and recorded by his disciples and passed on, and it continues to influence the moral and philosophical landscape of China, Korea, Japan and Vietnam today. The Analects represent a central body of philosophy that have been studied by every Chinese scholar for the last few millennia: for "a man was not considered morally upright or enlightened if he did not study Confucius' works." To read them is to better understand the underpinnings of Eastern social, moral and philosophical thought. In the words of Confucius: "To quietly persevere in storing up what is learned, to continue studying without respite, to instruct others without growing weary - is this not me?"

George MacDonald's AT THE BACK OF THE NORTH WIND has enticed critics since its publication in 1871. The unique blend of fairy tale atmosphere and social realism in this novel laid the groundwork for modern fantasy literature. In the novel, Little Diamond, a kind and precocious boy living in poverty, is befriended by the mysterious North Wind, who takes him on her nightly adventures. Written in intensely poetic language, AT THE BACK OF THE NORTH WIND transcends the genres of children's book or fairy tale. BEHIND THE BACK OF THE NORTH WIND includes 16 essays on this enigmatic and richly layered fantasy novel - with perspectives ranging from the influence of MacDonald's Christian worldview or the relation between fantasy and reality, to grappling with AT THE BACK OF THE NORTH WIND as children's literature. A variety of artist's illustrations are included, from editions published be-tween 1871 to 1988, visually reinforcing the imaginative impact MacDonald's classic story continues to have on readers. This collection of essays is designed as a companion volume to Broadview Press's critical edition of AT THE BACK OF THE NORTH WIND, also edited by Pennington and McGillis.
