I have always enjoyed writing poetry, but what prompted me to share this composition with you, the reader, is that each poem has had such a positive influence on others, as well as on me.Poetry can and has changed lives in my family and people around the world.I love my family! Sure, there have been some ups and downs. That is part of life. That is what inspired this writer for yet another title.I learned early in life to share, so here's to you, my fellow readers! May you enjoy this book as much as I have enjoyed the journey in the composing of each poem.

"This book is a memoir in poetry about family stories, mother-daughter relationships, women’s work, mothering, writing, family secrets, and patterns of communication in close relationships. Faulkner knits connections between a DIY (do-it-yourself) value, economics, and family culture through the use of poems and images, which present four generations of women in her family and trouble “women’s work” of mothering, cooking and crafting. Family stories anchor family culture and provide insight into relational and family life. This work may be used as a teaching tool to get us to think about the stories that we tell and don’t tell in families and the importance of how family is created, maintained, and altered in our stories. The poetry voices the themes of economic and collective family self-reliance and speaks to cultural discourses of feminist resistance and resilience, relational and personal identities. This book can be read for pleasure as a collection of poetry or used as a springboard for reflection and discussion in courses such as family communication, sociology of gender and the family, psychology of women, relational communication, and women’s studies. “Sandra’s innovative arts-based social science text demystifies poetic inquiry, providing readers both an embodied example of excellence and detailed exercises for use when practicing one’s own craft.” – Elizabeth A. Suter, University of Denver “Through this book, Faulkner presents a refreshing way of understanding, researching, and teaching about the communication in families.” – Pamela J. Lannutti, La Salle University “Faulkner takes readers into the personal lives of four generations of mothers and daughters, poetically uncovering concrete aspects of social processes of family, motherhood, relationships, and writing. A fusion of social science and art that invites engagement of all your senses to understand the felt truth of lived experience.” – Carolyn Ellis, University of South Florida “Captivating, nuanced, and often surprising, Faulkner’s work is a vital contribution that bridges the chasm between traditional interpersonal communication research and brave new artistic worlds for relationship studies.” Jimmie Manning, Northern Illinois University Social Fictions Series International Editorial Advisory Board Carl Bagley, University of Durham, UK Anna Banks, University of Idaho, USA Carolyn Ellis, University of South Florida, USA Rita Irwin, University of British Columbia, Canada J. Gary Knowles, University of Toronto, Canada Laurel Richardson, The Ohio State University (Emeritus), USA Sandra L. Faulkner is Associate Professor of Communication and Director of Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at BGSU. Her teaching and research interests include qualitative methodology, poetic inquiry, and sexuality in close relationships. Left Coast Press published her books Poetry as Method: Reporting Research through Verse and Inside Relationships: A Creative Casebook on Relational Communication. Her poetry appears in places such as Qualitative Inquiry, Women & Language, Storm Cellar, Literary Mama, and Sugar House Review, and her chapbook, Hello Kitty Goes to College, was published by dancing girl press. She lives in NW Ohio with her partner, their warrior girl, and a rescue mutt. "

A generous collection of spiritual and family poetry with pictures to create a lasting effect. These poems beg to be said aloud, and more than once. It's the journey from love to heartbreak passion, wit, and good common sense, the author tells of the basic ways a poem is built-meter and rhyme, form and diction, sound and sense. The author's evocative poetry speaks to the soul of anyone who is on this journey. The author expounds on his craft for translating complex emotions with astonishing simplicity and profound admiration for a reader of poetry. The poems of Poetry In Motion With God And Family are loosely connected and each represents the author's celebration of his philosophy of life and humanity. The physical body is present in all of the poems in this electric collection. We are given moments of the body's first pleasures, its anguish, its unpleasant realities, and its closeness to mortality. There are stories in these poems, too.

In this, my first published book, I have taken some eighty-six poems from more than three hundred I have written over nearly fifty years. Some express a simple faith in God the Father, some give praises to Jesus, some focus on biblical events and people, and some are what I call the opposite of the parables of Jesus. Instead of comparing an earthly situation with a heavenly situation, as Jesus did, I contrast the two. Some good examples are “Scars,” “God Will Never Leave Us,” and “You Can Count on Me.” Finally, I have included poems about family relationships, including mothers, fathers, and daughters. If you are a Christian, I hope this book will bless you; if you don’t know Jesus as your Savior, it is my prayer that God will use this book to show you one simple truth that Jesus loves you.

POETRY BY ME AND MY FAMILY About ART, SCIENCE, LOVE & LIFE These poems are fun to read, and you learn something new about art, science, love and life. They come out of the love I have for my wife, Margaret, our children, and our love for each other. They awaken something in your heart that is beyond knowledge, and they spiritually refresh, because the poems say tangibly what we all feel intangibly to give finite form to the infinite. The will to create and the will to love are one. And so, poems make love visible, which uplifts and heals, because in the presence of love everything is healed. The mind seeks truth, the heart seeks love, and the spirit seeks goodness and God. This creative spirit of love, therefore, shows us the face of God.

Inspired by a puzzling series of dreams about a favorite comic book hero from his boyhood, the author embarks upon an arduous but ultimately healing odyssey into a dark and damaged internal landscape, the wreckage of a childhood spent with an angry, abusive, distant father. As he begins to understand these dreams, and allows them to lead him forward, he also begins to accept his unique personal history, understand its consequences in his adult life, and take responsibility for his own healing.

Family Matters and Other Complications dramatizes the processes involved with immigration. Creating a trans-national identity and the emotional upheavals that occur with such a major change are at the center of this book about men and women at various stages in life as they try to feel at home in a foreign environment. The assorted stories and poems are woven around characters struggling with identity issues, and the subtle undercurrents make these complex family relationships come alive. Spanning across several generations and locales, this is a universal dilemma. Historical borders are no longer valid and geographical boundaries have lost their meaning, unable to confine us to where we were born, as the world grows a bit smaller every day. Beginning in the late 1960s, the book covers a period of 50 years, traveling from the Himalayan Mountains to communities in America. About the Author: Author Latika Mangrulkar grew up in India as an army brat, living all over the subcontinent before coming to the United States at the age of 22. She was the first South Asian woman grad student at her Midwestern university. She is a social worker/therapist and an educator, and lives in the San Francisco area.
