In 2009, at the peak of the financial crisis, AIG - the American insurance behemoth - was sinking fast. It was the peg upon which the nation hung its ire and resentment during the financial crisis: the pinnacle of Wall Street arrogance and greed. When Bob Benmosche climbed aboard as CEO, it was widely assumed that he would go down with his ship. In mere months, he turned things around, pulling AIG from the brink of financial collapse and restoring its profitability. Before three years were up, AIG had fully repaid its staggering debt to the U.S. government - with interest. Good for the Money is an unyielding leader's memoir of a career spent fixing companies through thoughtful, unconventional strategy. With his brash, no-holds-barred approach to the job, Benmosche restored AIG's employee morale and good name. His is a story of perseverance, told with refreshing irreverence in unpretentious terms. Called "an American hero" by Andrew Ross Sorkin, author of Too Big to Fail, Benmosche was a self-made man who never forgot what life is like for the nation's 99-percent; again and again, he pushed back against obstinate colleagues to salvage American jobs and industry. Good for the Money affords you a front-row seat for Benmosche's heated battles with major players from Geithner to Obama to Cuomo, and offers incomparable lessons in leadership from the legendary CEO who changed the way Wall Street does business.

This Book is the outcome of a long project begun thirty years ago. It is a book on the makings of pan-Africanism through the predicaments of being black in a world dominated by being white. The book is a tribute and celebration of the efforts of the African-American and African-Caribbean Diaspora who took the initiative and the audacity to fight and liberate themselves from the shackles of slavery. It is also a celebration of those Africans who in their own way carried the torch of inspiration and resilience to save and reconstruct the Free Humanism of Africa. As a story of the rise from the shackles of slavery and poverty to the summit of Victors of their Renaissance Identity and Self-Determination as a People, the book is the story of African refusal to celebrate victimhood. The book also situates women as central actors in the Pan-African project, which is often presented as an exclusively masculine endeavour. It introduces a balanced gender approach and diagnosis of the Women actors of Pan-Africanism which was very much lacking. The problem of balkanisation of Africa on post-colonial affiliations and colonial linguistic lines has taken its toll on Africa's building of its common identity and personality. The result is that Africans are more remote to each other in their pigeon-hole-nation-states which put more restrictions for African inter-mobility, coupled by education and cultural affiliations, the communication and transportation and trading networks which are still tied more to their colonial masters than among themselves. This book looks into the problem of the new wave of Pan-Africanism and what strategies that can be proposed for a more participatory Pan-Africanism inspired by the everyday realities of African masses at home and in the diaspora. This book is the first book of its kind that gives a comprehensive and multidimensional coverage of Pan-Africanism. It is a very timely and vital compendium.

The Rise to Democracy: The writing of this book is to help educate young America because the olds ways no longer work. It is clear the justice system in our country is nothing more than a reflection of what it used to represent. The issues regarding increased border patrol, speeches to the public about guaranteed citizenship were all deception by way of United States election. Many immigrants have already learned of other ways to fight for permanent residency in the states. It's a game of deception called "I want to become an American Citizen." You know, the process of doing what ever it takes. Years ago it began one city block at a time. Later the issue took over various communities. And now repopulating the region. It won't be long before the nation bows down to the color of another flag and the culture of a different country.

American History Unbound is a survey of the United States from its beginnings to the present, as revealed by Asian American and Pacific Islander history as opposed to European history. This is a work of history and anti-history, a narrative that fundamentally transforms our understanding of U.S. history, while remaining an accessible and clear text for students. It is filled with engaging stories and themes that draw attention to key theoretical and historical interpretations. Amongst other reinterpretations it positions Asians and Pacific Islanders within a larger history of people of color in the United States and it narrates U.S. History in the context of World History and oceanic worlds. This is the ideal book for students of U.S. History, American Studies, Ethnic Studies, and Asian American Studies.

The values that made America a great and respected nation are in decline causing consequences across all segments of our society. In this passionate and deeply personal account, author John W. Zimmerman Sr. issues a call to all Americans to take up this challenge and preserve America s promise, dream, and survival for all who follow. A roadmap and workable solutions to reclaiming our country, "America Adrift-Righting the Course," is a wake-up call for young, old, and everyone in between. John Zimmerman s analysis of moral relativity in our culture is beyond question. Unlike other writers who only trade in self-righteously denouncing our culture, he sensitively describes the problems and offers inspiration and practical suggestions to turn people around, so that they can develop themselves, achieve their goals, and make a lasting contribution to others. It is a book I would want to give to my children and to my retiree friends. Ted Schroder, pastor, Amelia Plantation Chapel, Amelia Island, Florida People and cultures are always confronted with change which can be represented from impending doom to opportunity waiting to be seized. In these troubled times when we all feel apprehension for what is coming next down the road, John shows us a light at the end of the tunnel. He tells it like it is, how it can be, and what it takes to get there. I highly recommend this book for everyone regardless of age or social standing. Bill Gower, president and founder, MATRIX Resources, Inc. I am donating my profits from this book to Boys and Girls Clubs of America. They do so much to develop the values of young people to make them respected and contributing adults."
