What if we prayed how Jesus taught us to? Many of us pray with little heart. We mutter the usual and leave with little expectation. But is this how Jesus taught us to pray? The Lord’s Prayer is a prayer according to God’s will, a prayer that beckons heaven to crash into earth. Tied to the sure promises of God, it compels us to seek—and expect—His glory in every sphere. When one prays consistently, persistently, and boldly for the hallowing of God’s holy name, big things happen. Radical Prayer gives us a glimpse of the transformative and explosive power of praying in God’s will, a power that takes place internally and manifests externally. Whether your prayer life is strong or in shambles, Radical Prayer will compel you to a life of bold, persistent, transformative, and expectant prayer.

Prayer From Alexander To Constantine presents a diverse selection of prayer chosen by over 40 different historians, all specialists in their respective areas of Graeco-Roman literature. This collaboration gives the book a range and depth that no individual author could hope to rival. Each selection includes an introductory essay, followed by a new English translation of the prayer, accompanied by critical notes and biography. In this way the reader is able to gain an insight into the variety of subjects and styles involved in people's communications with their gods in antiquity. The volume will be a key text for students engaged in courses which explore the period's history and theologies. There is no comparable anthology available in English. The volume will also be of value to the general reader interested in the history of this period and anyone interested in the forms of prayer.

This book, “STANDING IN PRAYER FOR THE WORLD” is the fruit of a hard work asserting that life situation can produce positive effect through discernment and prayer. It highlighted the knowledge and spiritual enrichment emanating from keen observation and discernment of God’s presence in His creation, which Sr. Christiana gained from extensive travels as a busy Bursar General “panting for quality time with the Lord.” It is a book of four chapters. The first Chapter articulated operational Divine mechanism available to children of God in “quality time with the Lord.” Quality time is a possibility in every situation including busy and stressful times. In Chapter two the book challenges us to pray for people especially, our weak brothers, sisters and leaders, so that “devil will not mess them up.” Chapter three is devoted to prayers for our ministers to live out their vocation so that they can serve the people of God faithfully in the spirit of God who chose them for special ministry. The final chapter reflected on the churches’ moral virtues compounded into prayers that uplift the mind of the one praying, based on the ethics of the virtues of obedience, faith, hope, charity, joy, kindness and humility. It includes a poem on the mystery of death, which puzzles humanity including Sister Christiana who lost both parents within three months interval. Reflection on the mystery of death builds hope cemented with prayers of total trust in God in all circumstances of life. This book therefore, is theologically sound and thought awakening to the wonders of the Almighty God made visible in the author’s gravity of understanding and experience. This is a book worth reading for spiritual uplift and enrichment. It stands the test of time! Simply put, it is a book for all seasons. Very Rev. This volume brings together for the first time the writings of Charles Wesley on the theme of justice for the poor and marginalized, drawing upon his sermons, manuscript journal, poetry, and a few letters. Most of his poems/hymns that address poverty and justice were left unpublished at his death. The author studies the theology of these texts for the first time in relation to relevant themes in his sermons, manuscript journal, and letters, and evaluates it in the light of its application and implementation in the eighteenth century and its viability for the twenty-first-century church and Christian. Charles's views of how Christians may "use divine grace divine" in seeking justice for the poor are indeed radical, for they advocate behavior that is often quite contrary to what is generally accepted as Christian practice. This volume makes clear that the radical grace he espouses is consistent with Holy Scripture and should indeed be practiced by Christians today. The liturgies and musical settings of some of the hymn texts that address the poor and marginalized at the end of the volume provide a pragmatic means for the worshipping community to integrate the principles of radical grace into their theology and praxis.

In a provocative manner, Bishop Mallory crosses boundaries of orthodoxy and raises some issues not commonly discussed, such as a possible Christian approach to reincarnation, betrayal as a normal part of life, the common thread in all religions, praying for one’s enemies by name, and not believing everything you think. In Other Roads Less Traveled, he presents a collection of sermons and meditations that ask and answer a wide range of questions: • Who is God to you? • What happens when we die? • What’s the meaning of life? • What’s the value of prayer? • What’s the good of other world religions like Judaism, Islam, Hinduism, Taoism, and Buddhism? • How do we fight a war on terrorism? Practical and down-to-earth, Other Roads Less Traveled is a compilation of work derived from fifty years in the ministry. It reflects Dr. Mallory’s experiences living and working in more than a dozen third-world countries, including eighteen years in Africa where he and his family lived under the apartheid regime of South Africa and the deadly reign of Idi Amin in Uganda. With the overarching theme of truth and justice, Mallory’s messages gather together his many experiences of a worldwide ministry.
