The internationally recognized teacher, speaker, and New York Times bestselling author of A Return to Love argues that our desire to avoid pain is actually detrimental to our lives, disconnecting us from our deepest emotions and preventing true healing and spiritual transcendence. Marianne Williamson is a bestselling author, world-renowned teacher, and one of the most important spiritual voices of our time. In Tears to Triumph, she argues that we—as a culture and as individuals—have learned to avoid facing pain. By doing so, we are neglecting the spiritual work of healing. Instead of allowing ourselves to embrace our hurt, we numb it, medicate it, dismiss it, or otherwise divert our attention so that we never have to face it. In refusing to acknowledge our suffering, we actually prolong it and deny ourselves the opportunity for profound wisdom—ultimately limiting our personal growth and opportunity for enlightenment. Frozen by denial, we are left standing in the breech. Whole industries profit from this immobility, and while they have grown rich, we have become spiritually poorer. As Marianne makes clear, true healing and transcendence can only come when we finally face our pain and wrestle with what it has to teach us. Written with warm compassion and profound wisdom, Tears to Triumph offers us a powerful way forward through the pain, to a deeper awareness of our feelings, our lives, and our true selves.

You pull me in. I resist. I run away but want to crumble. Your eyes: only one glance, one look, hits me like a tidal wave. I can't breathe. I'm plunging. Rescue me before I drown. I hide but wish to be found only by you ... Salty understands first-hand the devastating effects of trauma as well as the importance of showing ourselves compassion during these moments rather than placing unreasonable expectations on ourselves to "get over it" after a certain time period. In a poetic story of love, loss, and lessons learned, Salty shares writings that lead others on a journey through the depths of the heart as she bravely confronted the emotions associated with unrequited love, self-doubt, and heartache, ultimately learning how to lift herself up and face the future with a new perspective. In poems and prose that speak to the universal human experience, Salty helps us all map a course through one of our most relatable struggles in life. Trauma, Tears & Triumph shares poems and prose that lyrically chronicle a young woman's powerful journey to and from the self as she struggled with and eventually healed from heartache and loss.

FROM TEARS TO TRIUMPH, My Journey to The House of Hope is a captivating true story of despair turned into hope. During the summer of 1970, nineteen-year-old Linda stops on the way home from work to talk to a handsome stranger. That chance meeting on a San Francisco street corner changes the course of her life. Linda's compassionate, gripping, and soul-searching memoir tells the story of her remarkable journey from the darkness of despair and crushed dreams to the creation of a house of hope. Her desperate cry for help brings a spiritual awakening, a two-year life-molding adventure with the controversial Children of God commune, and her decision to leave them. By the age of twenty-two, disillusioned but not defeated, Linda follows a tug on her heart and a voice in her head and moves to Costa Rica where she advocates for street girls and underage prostitutes. Read her story of tears turned to triumph as faith, defiance, and courage propel her forward, fighting against the underage sex trade-one child at a time.

TEARS & TRIUMPHS AN AUTOBIOGRAPHY I HOPE THAT you glean some comfort and direction from my memoir. For me this has been a long walk to happiness and a peace in the autumn of my life. From my stammering to losing my daughter, when it seemed like the bottom of my life had fallen in, I thanked God that did not happen. I like what Robert H. Schuller (an American conference speaker) once said: "Tough times never last, but tough people do!" Never give up! In TEARS & TRIUMPHS I recount many times when I did feel like giving up - I kept going, I failed many times, but got on my feet again. In light of the devastating circumstances of the death of my youngest daughter, Annabelle, I hope that health professionals will also listen more carefully and react more quickly, and more professionally. Lastly, we need to do our best to "rule our minds." I come from an aerospace background and so aerodynamics was one of my subjects. According to the laws of aerodynamics the bumblebee's body is too large for its wings, therefore it cannot fly. Fortunately, the bee does not know the laws of aerodynamics, so it goes ahead and flies! For over 2000 years it was believed that it was a physical impossibility for a man to run a mile in 4 minutes - Roger Bannister in 1954 shattered that myth and very shortly after that the record was broken again. I used to ask myself what caused this change? The conclusion I have arrived at is that people began to believe that it was possible to run a mile in under 4 minutes. I hope and trust that you also will triumph over those tears and trials and reach your summit with success. The author will make a donation from the proceeds of each sale to: The Brain Tumour Charity in the UK
