In this landmark cookbook, chef Pierre Thiam, a native of Senegal, celebrates fonio, an ancient "miracle grain" of his childhood that he believes could change the world. Grown for centuries in Africa, fonio is not only nutritious and gluten-free, but also as easy to cook as rice and quinoa. The Fonio Cookbook is full of simple recipes for the home cook, with both traditional West African dishes such as Fonio Fritters with Sweet Potato and modern creations like Tamarind Roasted Chicken with Fonio and Fonio Seafood Paella. There are also numerous fonio dishes for breakfast and satisfying your sweet tooth, including Fonio and Plantain Pancakes and Fonio Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Coulis. Among the recipes, you'll find a rich cultural history of fonio that Thiam recounts in fascinating detail. The Fonio Cookbook also takes the reader on a journey to Senegal's fonio-growing region, with evocative photos and stories from harvest season detailing the grain's ease of growth and highlighting the people who transform fonio from crop to edible grain. Come along and discover this nutrient-rich ancient grain that's gaining incredible momentum in the western world and how it can replace any grain in your favorite dishes.

An Eater Best Cookbook of Fall 2020 • This groundbreaking new cookbook from chef, bestselling author, and TV star Marcus Samuelsson celebrates contemporary Black cooking in 150 extraordinarily delicious recipes. It is long past time to recognize Black excellence in the culinary world the same way it has been celebrated in the worlds of music, sports, literature, film, and the arts. Black cooks and creators have led American culture forward with indelible contributions of artistry and ingenuity from the start, but Black authorship has been consistently erased from the story of American food. Now, in The Rise, chef, author, and television star Marcus Samuelsson gathers together an unforgettable feast of food, culture, and history to highlight the diverse deliciousness of Black cooking today. Driven by a desire to fight against bias, reclaim Black culinary traditions, and energize a new generation of cooks, Marcus shares his own journey alongside 150 recipes in honor of dozens of top chefs, writers, and activists—with stories exploring their creativity and influence. Black cooking has always been more than “soul food,” with flavors tracing to the African continent, to the Caribbean, all over the United States, and beyond. Featuring a mix of everyday food and celebration cooking, this book also includes an introduction to the pantry of the African diaspora, alongside recipes such as: Chilled corn and tomato soup in honor of chef Mashama Bailey Grilled short ribs with a piri-piri marinade and saffron tapioca pudding in homage to authors Michael Twitty and Jessica B. Harris Crab curry with yams and mustard greens for Nyesha Arrington Spiced catfish with pumpkin leche de tigre to celebrate Edouardo Jordan Island jollof rice with a shout-out to Eric Adjepong Steak frites with plantain chips and green vinaigrette in tribute to Eric Gestel Tigernut custard tart with cinnamon poached pears in praise of Toni Tipton-Martin A stunning work of breadth and beauty, The Rise is more than a cookbook. It’s the celebration of a movement.

Scenes of starvation have drawn the world's attention to Africa's agricultural and environmental crisis. Some observers question whether this continent can ever hope to feed its growing population. Yet there is an overlooked food resource in sub-Saharan Africa that has vast potential: native food plants. When experts were asked to nominate African food plants for inclusion in a new book, a list of 30 species grew quickly to hundreds. All in all, Africa has more than 2,000 native grains and fruits--"lost" species due for rediscovery and exploitation. This volume focuses on native cereals, including African rice, reserved until recently as a luxury food for religious rituals. Finger millet, neglected internationally although it is a staple for millions. Fonio (acha), probably the oldest African cereal and sometimes called "hungry rice." Pearl millet, a widely used grain that still holds great untapped potential. Sorghum, with prospects for making the twenty-first century the "century of sorghum." Tef, in many ways ideal but only now enjoying budding commercial production. Other cultivated and wild grains. This readable and engaging book dispels myths, often based on Western bias, about the nutritional value, flavor, and yield of these African grains. Designed as a tool for economic development, the volume is organized with increasing levels of detail to meet the needs of both lay and professional readers. The authors present the available information on where and how each grain is grown, harvested, and processed, and they list its benefits and limitations as a food source. The authors describe "next steps" for increasing the use of each grain, outline research needs, and address issues in building commercial production. Sidebars cover such interesting points as the potential use of gene mapping and other "high-tech" agricultural techniques on these grains. This fact-filled volume will be of great interest to agricultural experts, entrepreneurs, researchers, and individuals concerned about restoring food production, environmental health, and economic opportunity in sub-Saharan Africa. Grain truly is the staff of life—tasty, versatile, and highly nutritious. This terrific and comprehensive cookbook offers authentic, eclectic, homespun recipes that showcase a variety of different grains at their best, whether on their own or cooked with vegetables or meat. From the familiar oat to exotic ancient crops, The Whole Grain Cookbook celebrates the good eating offered by 20 different whole grains: amaranth, quinoa, corn (maize), wheat, spelt, QK-77, triticale, rye, oats, rice, barley, millet, teff, sorghum, fonio, buckwheat, chickpeas, beans and peas, seeds, and nuts. Also included is information on how to store whole grain and how to grind your own meal and flour with a home milling machine (as with coffee and pepper, freshly ground grains are more flavorful, and less expensive, than store-bought). Appetizing, informative, and uncomplicated, this is a resource you’ll return to again and again.

The idea is to eliminate the root-cause of weight gain and diseases, instead of fixing it superficially. By following Master Diet plan, we fight the root-causes that are leaky guts and detox the body, which is half the work done. Then we fix it by additional vitamins and supplements, which we have lacked forever by avoiding and ignoring physical health and the right diet. Along follows the physical activities, light exercise and walk for an hour. So most of our health recovery is done, and most problems are solved. Then, if the treatment for disease and proper diet are followed, we gain total physical wellness and fitness. Food is not the only cause of disease. Wrong thinking and behaviour has the biggest impact on physical and mental health. So the idea is to correct the thinking, which eliminates the remaining cause of disease. Right thinking could be done by following a spiritual system of practice, keeping religious roots intact within. Mentally cleaning the physical system and meditating with the help of the Guru, who has given a system on experimental bases, and one who has mastered the total wellness and fitness physically, mentally and spiritually. Master Diet plan includes everyone 6+ with guidance on nutrition, low-fat, low-carb, low-calories and high protein diet quick recipes in just 15-30 minutes. It also includes pasta recipe in just 5 minutes without sauce and water! It has importance on spiritual fasting and self-experimenting on controlling diabetes and disease. It consists of modified master plant-based recipes that could be prepared in both continental and Asian flavors, with shortcuts to traditional recipes.

"The French scholar, Maxime Rodinson's contributions are legendary, yet have only been seen in translation in Petits Propos Culinaires. We include those already published there, together with the text of his longest paper, 'Recherches sur les documents Arabes relatifs a la cuisine', translated by Barbara Yeomans. The American scholar Charles Perry has been entertaining participants at the Oxford Symposium with regular gleanings from his researches into medieval Arab cookery, and several of his papers are gathered here, together with a new study of fish recipes, and other items previously published in PPC. Subjects include grain foods of the early Turks, rotted condiments, cooking pots, and Kitab al-Tibakhah, a 15th-century cookery book. English study of the subject was first encouraged by Professor Arberry's translation of the 13th-century cookery book Kitab al-Tabikh, published in 1939 in the periodical Islamic Culture."

Dr. Sebi Diet Book for Immune and Respiratory System Boost During Pandemic to Fight Viral Infections FORGET ABOUT STRICT AND COMPLICATED DIETS, GET ABSOLUTE RESULT WITH DR. SEBI DIET FAST!! I was a skinny kid and it wasn't until I hit my thirties that I unexpectedly started putting on weight and had problems with breathing and my immune system. Before I discovered Dr. Sebi Alkaline Diet, Cell Food Products, Nutritional Guide and his cure to many terminal diseases such as HIV AIDS, Cancer, Herpes, Lupus, Diabetes and many more. I carried out my own diet plan - which obviously didn't work out as planned, it was basically starvation, and of course, that didn't work.I also bought tablets that were supposed to 'get rid of the diseases.' They cost me a fortune and also didn't work. I was beginning to lose hope this time. But then, I joined a supposed 'clean eating' program and actually, I did lose some weight and my breath improved, but it was too restrictive and I hated every moment of it. I couldn't wait for those days to be over. Then, when it was over I went back to 'my normal' way of eating, I put the pounds that I had lost back on again and was back to feeling 'doughy' and continued battling with my health. Then, I discovered Dr. Sebi Diet and I have never regretted it for a moment. Dr. Sebi diet is a plant-based diet or could be said to be a form of alkaline diet designed to help cells repair themselves through a combination of restricted diet and supplements. Sebi believed that disease is a result of mucus and acidity in the body, and maintained that diseases cannot exist in an alkaline environment. His program includes a very healthy dietary regimen and products which is used to detoxify or cleanse the body of disease and restore alkalinity. The diet does not support animal products of any kind, and overall focuses on vegan eating. For instance, it restricts seedless fruits and only permits Sebi's approved list of natural herbs and food list. A Brief Overview Of The Foods Dr. Sebi Recommended: FRUITS Apples Bananas Elderberry Cherries Dates VEGETABLES Avocado Bell Peppers Cucumber Dandelion greens GRAINS Amaranth Fonio Kamut NUTS AND SEEDS Hemp seeds Raw sesame seeds Raw tahini TEAS Burdock Elderberry Fennel Ginger OILS Olive oil Coconut oil Sesame oil Hempseed oil Also, the recipes contained inside this cookbook will make it easier for you to live a healthy life and put less thought into dishes that can be prepared. Remember: The less thought you have to put into what you can eat, the easier it will be for you to remain committed to living healthy. Want to learn more CLICK THE BUY BUTTON TO GET A COPY NOW
