Jahrhunderts.

Current Trends in the Development and Teaching of the four Language Skills builds connections from theory in the four language skills to instructional practices and comprises twenty-one chapters that are grouped in five sections. The introductory chapter presents a communicative competence framework in order to highlight the key role the four language skills play in language learning and teaching. The next four sections each represent a language skill. Each section begins with a chapter which briefly illustrates advances in the understanding of how each skill is likely to be learned and taught. The following didactically oriented chapters expand this understanding by reviewing exemplary research and presenting innovative activities. The accessible style and practical focus of the volume make it ideal for method courses on teaching the four language skills.

The Four Immeasurables—the cultivation of loving-kindness, compassion, empathetic joy, and equanimity—is a rich suite of practices that open the heart, counter the distortions in our relationships to ourselves, and deepen our relationships to others. Alan Wallace presents a unique interweaving of teachings on the Four Immeasurables with instruction on meditative quiescence, or shamatha practice, to empower the mind. This book includes both guided meditations and lively discussions on the implications of these teachings for our life.

A synopsis is a tool which displays different passages of a text side by side for comparison. This is most commonly done with the four Gospels of the New Testament because of their similar material, but it could reasonably be done with any text that has similar passages, such as the Old Testament historical narratives. The synopsis you presently hold contains the four Gospels of the New Testament. It is different from comparing parallel versions, such as one English translation to another, because all of the passages displayed in this synopsis are from the same version, the NET Bible. It is different from a harmony because the passages are not reorganized into one story; each Gospel in a synopsis is separate from the others and can be read by itself or in comparison with the others. This parallel arrangement enables fruitful comparison of the Gospels to each other so each may be understood well on its own in light of the others.

Four Potential Gravitation and its Quantization

The gravitation potential is considered as a four potential like the electromagnetic four potential. The new source term is the four rest mass current density like the four electrical charge current density in the electromagnetic theory. That yields essentially the same results as the former scalar theory from the same author. The Mercury perihelion like some other effects known from general relativity can be calculated likewise. Gravitational radiation can be calculated only up to a constant factor which is to be taken from general relativity. In the preceding theory, there had been a calculation error insofar; in principle, however there is no difference to the result of general relativity. There is still also a gravitational monopole radiation. The spin of the new gravitational field is also zero. Moreover, with the Dirac equation a relativistic quantum mechanical equation of gravitation is obtained which in the classical limit coincides with the new classical theory. The new gravitational potential obviously can be quantized. In principle, the new gravitational potential can interact with the spin of the electron. However, free gravitational waves can not interact with the spin of the electron, also because free gravitational waves have no spin.

"The Four Filters Invention of Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger" examines each of the basic steps they perform in "framing and making" an investment decision. This book is a focused look into this amazing invention within "Behavioral Finance." The genius of Buffett and Munger's parsimonious four filters process was to "capture all the important stakeholders" in a "multi-variable" equation or formula. Imagine...Products, Enduring Customers, Managers, and Margin-of-Safety... all in one mixed "qual + quant" formula. Other important ideas are embedded in each chapter. The book can be used as a supplemental textbook in a Valuation or Decision Sciences course.

This book is an annotated translation, with introduction and commentary, of the correspondence between Yi Hwang (T'oegye, 1500-1570) and Ki Taesung (Kobong, 1527-1572) and between Yi I (Yulgok, 1536-1584) and Song Hon (Ugye, 1535-1598), known as the Four-Seven Debate, the most famous philosophical controversy in Korean Neo-Confucian thought. The most complex issues and difficult tensions in the great Neo-Confucian synthesis are at the juncture between the metaphysics of the cosmos and the human psyche. The Four-Seven Debate is perhaps the most searching examination of this tension ever carried out.

This compact volume shows how the Four Books -- the Greater Learning, the Analects, the Mencius, and the Doctrine of the Mean -- have been read and understood by the Chinese since the twelfth century. Included are selected passages in translation, accompanied by Daniel Gardner's comments and the selected commentary of Zhu Xi (1130-1200), the renowned Neo-Confucian thinker. The book provides an introduction to the later imperial Confucian tradition; introduces the reader to Zhu Xi's commentarial understanding of the Four Books; suggests how Neo-Confucians, like Zhu Xi, through commentary, gave coherence and meaning to the Four Books collectively; and illustrates the nature of the standard educational curriculum.
