The Sun is always present, but its light cannot be perceived in the same way, at the same time, in all regions of the planet. Cycles and phases are manifestations in the concrete spheres. However, on higher levels, serene bliss reigns – an ocean of pure consciousness, the infinite source of love and power. You are invited to enter into this mystery. Recognize yourself as an essence. You are whole. In plenitude will you live.

Who or what is "Amhaj" and what is this being saying to us? Many esoteric and spiritual traditions share the doctrine of 'Hierarchies' or 'ascended Masters, ' i.e. beings from higher dimensions that oversee and guild human and planetary evolution. Amhaj is one of these Hierarchies and this book offers advice from contacts with him, including how to conduct ourselves in this time of personal and world crisis and how to help others, the personal changes that are needed, and how to remain in contact with our higher ideals and the higher dimensions of reality that are waiting for us to access them. This material is presented in a poetic or aphoristic format, with each chapter containing paragraphs on the different themes that serve to inspire us and rouse us to action. Amahaj says: "There are no mysteries to fulfilling the law. And fulfilling the law would transform the Earth into a heavenly kingdom." If you are interested in participating in this process and in being a server for this purpose you will find much of value in this book.

The current degree of the planet’s radioactive contamination has an effect on its subtle spheres, disintegrating the thread of life that unites consciousness to bodies. The material atoms have a subtle counterpart to which they are connected by an etheric web. When human beings, inspired by dark forces, generate processes to obtain energy from those atoms, this has a direct effect upon the physical-concrete foundation for anchoring divine power in manifested existence. Such processes constitute a violation of laws that should be learned, controlled, and then used in an altruistic way for the benefit of the All. The negative karmic consequences generated by this violation are enormous and are already making themselves felt. Only the intervention of a higher power is capable of bringing such an imbalance to a halt. For this reason, the work of transmutation and preservation of life carried out by the planetary centers and by the service groups is immeasurable and constant. If it were not for these, the Earth would no longer exist as a material planet. This book is about the existence of those centers and those groups.

A bohemian and an iconoclast, the figure of Saadat Hasan Manto looms large over the literature of the Indian subcontinent. We know of his stories on the horrors of Partition and the struggles of prostitutes. But neither Partition nor prostitution gave birth to the genius of Manto. They only furnished him with an occasion to reveal the truth of the human condition. My Name Is Radha is a path-breaking edition of stories which delves deep into Manto’s creative world, and refreshingly brings into focus Manto the writer rather than Manto the commentator. Muhammad Umar Memon’s inspired selection of Manto’s best-known stories along with those less talked about, and his precise and elegant translation showcase an astonishing writer being true to his calling. ‘The undisputed master of the modern Indian short story’ Salman Rushdie ‘An errant genius’ The Hindu

The essays in this anthology study Israeli television, its different forms of representation, audiences and production processes, past and present, examining Israeli television in both its local, cultural dynamics, and global interfaces. The book looks at Israeli television as a creator, negotiator, guardian and warden of collective Israeli memory, examining instances of Israeli original television exported and circulated to the US and the global markets, as well as instances of American, British, and global TV formats, adapted and translated to the Israeli scene and screen. The trajectory of this volume is to shed light on major themes and issues Israeli television negotiates: history and memory, war and trauma, Zionism and national disillusionment, place and home, ethnicity in its unique local variations of Ashkenazim and Mizrahim, immigrants from the former Soviet Union and Ethiopia, Israeli–Arabs and Palestinians, gender in its unique Israeli formations, specifically masculinity as shaped by the military and constant violent conflict, femininity in this same context as well as within a complex Jewish oriented society, religion, and secularism. Providing multifaceted portraits of Israeli television and culture in its Middle Eastern political and local context, this book will be a key resource to readers interested in media and television studies, cultural studies, Israel, and the Middle East.

Billionaire Crown Prince Skandar Al-Basran’s life is disrupted in a big way when a red-headed beauty literally stumbles into his life. For the first time, Skandar has been asked by his ailing father to lead a series of rituals to reinforce the royal family’s ties to the kingdom’s tribal community. It is vital to Skandar’s future as king that everything go to plan. So when Virginia “Gina” Allen nearly disrupts a particularly sacred ritual, he asks her to stay. Anyone leaving before the next full moon will destroy the ritual and offend the tribe. Gina is unexpectedly enthusiastic about remaining for a week, leaving Skandar entranced. And intrigued. Especially when her enthusiasm continues after he invites her into his tent… Gina loves adventure, so spending a week with a sexy sheikh is a no-brainer. Only, weeks later, when Gina realizes she’s pregnant, she knows she’s in trouble. When Skandar unexpectedly returns from the royal palace after his father’s death, she can’t stop herself from blurting out her condition, and Skandar immediately informs her they must marry—but only until a convocation can determine who should be king. His uncle is challenging him for the throne, and not marrying Gina will weaken Skandar’s support among the desert tribes. He’ll make it worth her while, compensate her for her time. Business only. Gina doesn’t need much convincing; she’s happy to help keep peace with the tribes she’s come to deeply respect. But through the whirlwind of events leading up to the convocation, Skandar and Gina’s desire for each other grows stronger. Gina, who’s fallen hard for Skandar, comes to realize she won’t settle for anything but love, and Skandar just can’t seem to understand that love is the one thing he needs most.

While the eight South Asian countries of Afghanistan, Bhutan, Bangladesh, India, the Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka continue to be divided by deep national differences, they also share common cultures, languages, and religions. "Perspectives on Modern South Asia" is an interdisciplinary collection of readings drawn from anthropology, literary and cultural studies, history, sociology, economics, and political science that will shape a fuller understanding of the complexities of contemporary South Asia. Featuring selections from an international group of experts, this volume explores the tension between the lived experience of cultural or religious tolerance and the deployment of culture or religion for nationalist purposes. Visweswaran offers a wealth of thought-provoking insights into the origins and development of the shifting politics, cultures, economies, and national identities of a region of the world that is home to a fifth of humanity.

Kareem was an Afghan resistance fighter of the 1980s and was once on the CIA payroll. But now he's responsible for the murder of an American CIA agent in Pakistan, which may compromise an intricate, long-planned CIA operation to capture Osama bin Laden. CIA officer Paul Patterson, who ran Kareem as an agent during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan, sets out to track him down. Patterson navigates a shadow land of intrigue in England, Africa, the Middle East, and the U.S., where truth and lies seem to merge. Meanwhile, Muhammad Atta and the other conspirators prepare their attack on the World Trade Center. The climax is a stunning reversal of everything that Patterson's quest has led him to expect. Peopled with Washington bureaucrats, old CIA hands who operate by their own set of rules, African rebels, diplomats, and assassins, this thriller captures the world of the CIA and the terrorists with the intensity John le Carré brought to the Cold War.

'The ancient whore, the handmaiden of dimly remembered Hindu kings, the courtesan of Mughal emperors', the 'Paris of the East', Lahore is more than the grandeur of Mughal forts and gardens, mosques and mausoleums; the jewel colours of everlasting spring. It is also the city of poets, the city of love, longing, sin and splendour. This anthology brings together verse and prose: essays, stories, chronicles and profiles by people who have shared a relationship with Lahore. From the mystical poems of Madho Lal Hussain and Bulleh Shah to Iqbal's ode and Faiz's lament, from Maclagan and Aijazuddin's historical treatises and Kipling's 'chronicles' to Samina Quraeshi's intricate portraits of the Old City and Irfan Husain's delightful account of Lahori cuisine, City of Sin and Splendour is a marriage of the sacred and profane. While Pran Nevile paints a vivid sketch of Lahore's Hira Mandi, Shahnaz Kureshy brings alive the legend of Anarkali and Khalid Hasan pays a tribute to the late 'melody queen' Nur Jehan. Mohsin Hamid's essay on exile, Bina Shah's account of the Karachi vs Lahore debate and Emma Duncan's piece on elections are essential to the understanding of modern-day Lahore. But the city is also about Lahore remembered. Ved Mehta and Krishen Khanna write about 'going back' as Khushwant Singh writes about his pre-Partition years in Lahore. Sara Suleri's memories of her hometown, the landscapes of Bapsi Sidhwa's fiction, Khaled Ahmed's homage to Intezar Hussain and Urvashi Butalia's Ranamama are tributes to memory as much as they are tributes to remarkable lives and unforgettable places. Including fiction old and new—from Manto and Chughtai to Ashfaq Ahmed and Zulfikar Ghose; Saad Ashraf and Sorayya Khan to Mohsin Hamid and Rukhsana Ahmad,City of Sin and Splendour is a sumptuous collection that reflects the city it celebrates.
