New Mexico's state archives offer a rich collection of documents from the Spanish, Mexican, and Territorial periods. Robert J. Trrez has mined this collection to produce a series of thirty-six articles that give us an idea of the stark reality of everyday life: what ordinary people went through to feed and protect their families, keep warm, worship their God, deal with government bureaucracies, and enjoy a few of life's pleasures. Previously published in periodicals with small local circulation, these essays are now available to the broader audience they deserve. The essays are divided into five groups. Part 1, "Glimpses of Daily Life," includes such topics as arranged marriages, conflicts over taxes and water, and weaving in New Mexico. Part 2, "Indian Relations," shows us visits and battles with Navajo, Ute, and Pueblo people. Part 3, on "Crime and Punishment," comprises essays on hangings, poisonings, and outlaws. "The Territorial Topics" gathered in Part 4 is a mlange of entertainment, travel, and government matters, from the oddity of "UFOs over Galisteo," in which a Chinese balloon seems to have made its way to New Mexico in 1880, to the arrival of stagecoaches, telegraphs, and a circus. Part 5 presents biographical sketches of seven famous and not-so-famous New Mexicans. "In an extraordinary case from 1744, Juana Martn, the wife of Joseph de Armijo, accused him of carrying on an affair with Getrudes de Segura. When the investigation was concluded, the offending couple was found guilty and Getrudes sentenced to exile at El Paso del Norte for four years. Armijo was allowed to remain in Santa Fe, but was assessed the expenses of Getrudes's trip to El Paso. The formal sentence pointed out Armijo's failure to live up to his responsibilities as a husband and ordered him to live amicably with his wife during Getrudes's period of exile."--from UFOs Over Galisteo and Other Stories of New Mexico's History

This is the next look at Roswell and the 1947 UFO crash Incident. It is a big picture review of the before and after. It gives a possible reason for UFO sightings and activities in the Colorado, New Mexico and Texas areas. It helps to explain why a UFO could have crashed so near to Roswell. It shows a 1946 and 1996 aerial photo of the reported crash site and a Government effort to hideaway the same area from aerial photos for the fifty years in between. "Andrew Oien has revealed his thought process and research capabilities in this work. His findings suggest that good photos of the era for the 1947 Ragsdale crash site are being intentionally withheld to prevent detailed analysis." -Dr. Robert M. Wood, UFO researcher, MUFON Board member "The material in this book is a new look at what has actually been in our faces forever. It reminds me of the term "You cannot see the forest because of the trees." In this case, you cannot see what is right in front of you until you connect the dots. The dots have been connected. The findings are interesting and very curious to say the least." -Steve Hudgeons, MUFON State Director - Texas 2012 "Thanks for sending your material to read on the Roswell incident" -(The late) Charlton Heston About the Author Andrew has had an interest in Sci-Fi movies from the time he could watch them in the 1960s. As a child and young teen he had a high interest in reading the investigative stories of the Hardy Boys and Sherlock Holmes. He was a Boy Scout, is a Military Veteran and is an NRA member. His interest in the 1947 Roswell Incident began when his brother handed him a book on the subject in 1991. He began his research and writing after a visit to Roswell, New Mexico, in 1996. Ufology is one of his interesting pastimes. He has worked as a Mechanical Designer and Drafter for 20 plus years. Andrew is married, has a family and lives in So. California where he was born and raised.

The haunting specter of hanging trees holds a powerful sway on the American imagination, conjuring images of rough-and-tumble frontier towns struggling to impose law and order in a land where violence was endemic. In this thoughtful study, former New Mexico State Historian Robert Tórrez examines several fascinating criminal cases that reveal the harsh and often gruesome realities of the role hangings, legal or otherwise, played in the administration of frontier justice. At first glance, the topic may seem downright morbid, and in a sense it is, but these violent attempts at justice are embedded in our perception of America's western experience. In tracing territorial New Mexico's efforts to enforce law, Tórrez challenges the myths and popular perceptions about hangings and lynchings in this corner of the Wild West.

In 1889, Roswell patriarch Capt. Joseph C. Lea, Pat Garrett (the former sheriff who shot Billy the Kid), and land developer Charles B. Eddy ventured to the territorial council and house in Santa Fe to petition for the creation of two new counties from the massive Lincoln County in southeastern New Mexico. The request was granted and Chaves County officially came into being on February 25, 1889. Today, 120 years later, Chaves County still thrives with a population of more than 60,000 people and is the dairy capital of the Southwest, producing around 1.7 billion pounds of milk annually. Explored in this volume is Chaves County’s earliest peoples and settlements, including Roswell, Dexter, Hagerman, Lake Arthur, and Elk. It also takes a look at long-forgotten towns such as Acme, Blackdom, Cumberland, Greenfield and even old ranching outfits and farms such as John Chisum’s South Spring River headquarters, the Clifton Chisholm alfalfa farm, and many others.

Psychologist and researcher Don Donderi examines the evidence and research from the past several decades on the changing nature of UFOs. He looks at why the scientific establishment takes a dim view of UFOs and abduction evidence and examines how the US government has collected and suppressed UFO evidence. UFOs, ETs, and Alien Abductions is a wide-ranging examination of all things off-planet that falls into 3 sections. 1. UFOs: evidence and belief between 1947 through 1965 and Cold War mysteries 2. The changing nature of UFO phenomenon from 1965 to the present, which makes the case for the existence of humanoid crew members seen in and around landed UFOs. This section also examines six well-documented abduction cases, and includes the author detailing his own research involvement with the evidence. He refutes the belief that all abductees are mentally disturbed and that a psychological disturbance explains the experience. 3. The third section is devoted to a very meaty and controversial analysis of science, politics, and UFOs.

In the Southwestern United States, the skies above New Mexico have provided an amazing stargazing experience for two millennia. Images of America: New Mexico Space Trail catalogs sites within the state that have inspired humankind to reach for the stars. The Space Trail includes various archaeoastronomy locations, such as Chaco Canyon, which Native Americans used to predict agricultural schedules according to the sun’s position during the solstice. Rocket development in Roswell, missile launches in the Tularosa Basin, astronomy efforts around the state, and commercial space flights are just a few of the stops along the trail. Join the journey and discover night skies that are so dark that the Milky Way and its millions of luminous stars create shadows over the desert landscape.

The Book of Revelation tells of angels who fall from their heavenly estates. The Mayan calendar foretells the fall to some two hundred thousand years ago. The discord that followed sent repercussions to earth, arriving about nine thousand years ago when the first generation of the human raceIsraelemerged. By 4500 BC, an Agenda of a Snake from the fallen angels began to breed the biblical lines of Cain and Seth. Soon, the third generation emerged, and the conditions man calls good and evil began proliferating on the earth. Mans spirit commenced through the spirit of the angel Michael, but today it remains trapped within the human mind. Six thousand years ago, the angels Michael, Ra, Viracocha, and Ra Agenda came to earth to free man's spirit by attempting to prevent the creation of the human race. Unsuccessful, they left earth, bequeathing the Mayan calendar, which contains information about the five Ages, to the Mayan people. The Ra Agenda reemerged by 1948 as the mysterious UFO that defied the laws of reality. They have come to secretly assist mankind through the approaching shift in human consciousness scheduled to occur in the fifth Mayan Age of Aquarius in the year 2040.

Governments around the world have had to deal with the UFO phenomenon for a good part of a century. How and why they did so is the subject of UFOs and Government, a history that for the first time tells the story from the perspective of the governments themselves. It's a perspective that reveals a great deal about what we citizens have seen, and puzzled over, from the "outside" for so many years. The story, which is unmasked by the governments' own documents, explains much that is new, or at least not commonly known, about the seriousness with which the military and intelligence communities approached the UFO problem internally. Those approaches were not taken lightly. In fact, they were considered matters of national security. At the same time, the story reveals how a subject with such apparent depth of experience and interest became treated as if it were a triviality. And it explains why one government, the United States government, deemed it wise, and perhaps even necessary, to treat it so. Though the book focuses primarily on the U. S. government's response to the UFO phenomenon, also included is the treatment of the subject by the governments of Sweden, Australia, France, Spain, and other countries. This large-format, fully illustrated book is the result of a team effort that called itself "The UFO History Group," a collection of veteran UFO historians and researchers who spent more than four years researching, consulting, writing, and editing to present a work of historical scholarship on government response to the UFO phenomenon. Michael Swords was the primary author of the United States chapters. The work was coordinated and edited by Robert Powell. Clas Svahn, Vicente-Juan Ballester Olmos, Bill Chalker, and Robert Powell contributed country chapters. Jan Aldrich was the primary content consultant, with additional content consultation and writing coming from Barry Greenwood and Richard Thieme. Steve Purcell was the primary photo illustration editor. From the foreword by Jerome Clark: "While UFOs and Government revisits an often unhappy history, the reading of it is far from an unhappy experience. The authors, eloquent, intelligent, sophisticated, and conscientious, provide us with the first credible, comprehensive overview of official UFO history in many years... Most of the current volume deals with U.S. military and intelligence responses to the UFO phenomenon, but it also features richly informative chapters that expand the story across the international arena. If you're looking for an example of a nation that dealt productively with the UFO reports that came its official way, you will take heart in the chapter on the French projects... From here on, every responsible treatment of UFOs and government will have to cite UFOs and Government prominently among its sources... this is the real story as accurately as it can be reconstructed in the second decade of the new century. I expect to keep my copy close at hand and to return to it often. While it cannot be said of many books, UFO-themed or otherwise, this is among the essential ones. Stray from it at your peril."
